Our "claim to fame" is our 6,000 square foot mountain chalet located at the base of Peak 8 in Breckenridge. The chalet provides affordable mountain lodging and an opportunity to meet other active singles. Download the Schussbaumer Ski Club Brochure. I'm Interested - What's the Next Step? Attend any of the evening social meetings advertised on our website. Applications are available at all of the social meetings and a brief overview of how to join the club is given. If you are unable to attend a social meeting and are interested in attending any of the other social events listed on our website, please e-mail me. An overview of membership dues, responsibilites, and requirements is provided below. Membership Criteria You must meet the following criteria to join the Schussbaumer Ski Club:
Membership Dues: See current dues page There are no additional bunk fees for active members. Once you become a member, you are given a key and can use the chalet anytime you wish throughout the year. Staying more than 4 consecutive nights does require prior board approval. Dues are renewable on your anniversary date. Changes in dues and by-law are voted on at the annual business meeting in April. Accommodations The chalet is set up dormitory style and sleeps 72 people. The men's floor is located on the lower level and the women's floor is located on the top level. Each floor has 9 rooms with two bunk beds in each room. Each floor has a large hall restroom with 2 showers and 2 stools. There are typically 30-40 people at the chalet on a ski weekend. What to Bring for an Overnight Stay
Signing in The first time you arrive, ask for the chalet manager or another board member to sign your application and help you sign into a room. You will need to pay an overnight guest fee when you sign in. Some members pay extra to have a reserved bunk. If you are in a member's reserved bunk and they show up before 9pm Sunday through Friday or before 7:30pm on Saturday you may be asked to move to another bunk. Kitchen supplies & facilities Our large commercial style kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook breakfast, lunch or dinner. We have dishes, silverware, microwaves, coffee pots, pots & pans, and cooking utensils. We have two refrigerators, a freezer, and cubicles available for storing food. Staples such as flour, sugar, creamer, coffee, tea, spices are available at the chalet. All members share refrigerator and cubicle space so please put your name on any food you bring - otherwise it may be mistaken for a community item. Community items such as those on the refrigerator shelve marked community are considered "up for grabs" - you are welcome to use these items. Social Events This web site's Social Activities calendar and our monthly newsletter contains information on upcoming activities for members. We've sponsored snowshoeing, hut, bike, and alpine skiing trips in Colorado. We've also sponsored alpine skiing trips to Europe and Canada. We normally have a Thanksgiving, Christmas, Luau, downhill Chicken Race and other parties throughout the year. Costs for these optional social events are in addition to membership dues.
