Chalet History
The Original Chalet In Georgetown, Colorado
Georgetown Chalet The Schussbaumer Ski Club was founded in 1952. The original Chalet (built from two old barns) was in Georgetown, Colorado. The residents of Georgetown weren't quite sure what to make of a group of singles who renovated a house and installed bunk beds. Rumors were that they had built a brothel!
The Schussbaumers co-existed peacefully with their Georgetown neighbors until word came that the government was going to build the highway I-70 and that the Schussbaumer Chalet was in the way.

The Current Chalet in Breckenridge, Colorado

The members scouted out a new location and picked the burgeoning town of Breckenridge, Colorado in which to build their new Chalet. As with the first Chalet, almost all of the work was done by the members, and the Breckenridge Chalet was finished in 1965. A two-story building addition for dining and relaxation was constructed in 1984. The bathrooms were remodeled in 1997.
